When a roof is past saving, we tear it off to the decking and put a new one on by hand. If yours still has good years left, we'll tell you that first.
Do you actually need a new roof?
Every replacement starts with a free inspection. We fly a drone over every slope, check up close where it's safe, and show you the photos. You get a written estimate with no obligation.
Plenty of roofs don't need replacing yet. A few lifted shingles or a cracked vent boot is a repair, and we'll price it that way. Homeowners mention in their reviews that we told them to wait, and we'd rather keep it that way than sell a roof nobody needs.
These are the signs that usually point to replacement:
- Shingles curling, cracking, or missing in more than one spot
- Granules piling up in gutters and downspouts
- Soft or sagging spots in the decking
- Leaks that keep coming back after repairs
- Hail bruising across whole slopes, not just a few shingles
What happens on install day
We put tarps down over the yard and flower beds, tear the old roof off down to the decking, and replace decking that's damaged. Then the crew lays underlayment and installs architectural shingles, setting every nail by hand.
Most homes are torn off and re-roofed in about a day. Bigger or more complicated roofs take longer, and we'll give you a timeline before we start. When the crew is finished, we sweep the yard for nails, walk the roof with you, and hand you your warranty paperwork.
Why we still hand-nail
A nail gun is faster. It's also how nails get overdriven, set crooked, or miss the nailing strip, and those are the shingles that lift in the first hard wind. Hand-nailing lets the crew set each nail at the right depth in the right place. James Bohon roofed that way when he opened the business in 1980, and the crew still does.
Shingles or metal
Most of our replacements are architectural shingles, the thicker, dimensional kind. We'll help you pick a color that suits the house. If you're weighing metal instead, we install standing seam metal roofs too and can walk you through the tradeoffs.
Paying for a new roof
If hail or wind is the reason you need a roof, your homeowner's policy may cover some or all of it. We document the damage, meet your adjuster at the house, and explain what the claim is paying for. If it isn't a claim, you get the same written estimate and the same crew.

How long does a roof replacement take?
Most homes are done in about a day. Large or steep roofs, or roofs with a lot of damaged decking, can take longer. We'll tell you what to expect before we start.
Can you put new shingles over my old roof?
We replace roofs with a full tear-off so we can see and fix the decking underneath. Some cities also limit layers. Texarkana, Texas, for example, allows only one layer of shingles over an existing roof.
Will you tell me if I don't need a new roof?
Yes. If a repair will buy you good years, we'll say so and price the repair instead.
