Roofing in Texarkana, Texas

This is home. Bohon Roofing has worked on Texarkana roofs since 1980, and our office is on the Texas side of town, about four miles from downtown.

Our hometown

James Bohon started roofing around Texarkana in 1976 and opened Bohon Roofing in 1980. His son Robbie runs the business today and still comes out to look at roofs himself. When hail season rolls through Bowie County, we're not a crew passing through. We'll be here when you have a question about your roof years from now.

Roof permits in Texarkana, Texas

The City of Texarkana, Texas requires a permit for a new roof, and also for roof repairs, overlays, and shingle work. Permits go through the city's Inspections and Code Enforcement office at 220 Texas Boulevard, and contractors have to register with the city before they can apply for one.

The city also limits how many layers a roof can have. A new layer of shingles can go over an existing layer only once. If a roof already has more than one layer, the old roofing has to come off and the deck has to be re-felted before new shingles go on.

You can read the city's permit answers yourself at texarkanatexas.gov/FAQ.aspx?QID=112.

Hiring a roofer in Texas

Texas doesn't issue a statewide license for roofing contractors, so the checking falls to you. Look for a local address, read reviews from people in town, and get a written estimate. Bohon Roofing carries surety bonds in Texas and is a BBB Accredited Business with an A+ rating.
