Roofing in Atlanta, Texas
Atlanta is down U.S. 59 in Cass County, about 28 miles from our Texarkana office by road. We give a roof in Atlanta the same care as one close to home.
Getting to Atlanta
From our office at 9007 N Kings Hwy, we head south on Kings Highway and pick up U.S. 59 toward Cass County. It's about 28 miles and a little over half an hour of driving.
Atlanta sits in eastern Cass County. U.S. 59 runs along the west side of town, and State Highways 43 and 77 pass through it.
About Atlanta
Atlanta got its start in 1871, when the Texas and Pacific Railway built through and a post office opened. Many of the first settlers came from Atlanta, Georgia, and named the new town after it.
Lumber was the big business early on, and the town grew fast during the lumber boom of the 1880s. Atlanta incorporated in 1929. Today the main industries are farming, forestry, oil, and tourism. It is the largest city in Cass County, with 5,433 people in the 2020 census, though the county seat is Linden.
Permits in Atlanta
Atlanta is its own city with its own City Hall at 315 N. Buckner, separate from Texarkana and from Cass County. The city's website, atlantatexas.org, has a Permits & Forms page, and its FAQ says permit fees are set in the city ordinances.
The simplest way to know what a roof job needs is to call City Hall at (903) 796-7153. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Texas has no statewide license for roofing contractors, so local rules and a roofer's track record matter. Bohon Roofing is BBB A+ accredited and carries surety bonds in Texas.
Storms in Cass County
Cass County gets its share of spring storms. From 2016 through 2025, the NOAA Storm Events Database lists 30 hail reports, 55 thunderstorm wind reports, and 12 tornado reports in the county. The largest hail in that stretch was 2.5 inches, reported near Bancker on April 13, 2019.
The National Weather Service office in Shreveport covers Cass County and logged those reports. After a storm, look for missing shingles, dented vents, and granules piling up at the bottom of your downspouts. If you see damage, a free inspection tells you what you're dealing with before you file a claim.
What to expect when we come out
- A free inspection with drone photos of every slope
- A written estimate with no obligation, or a straight answer that you don't need work yet
- A tarp if a storm has left the roof open to rain
- Photos and an adjuster meeting if it's an insurance claim
- A hand-nailed repair or new roof, and a final walkthrough with you
What we install
Most of our roofs are Owens Corning architectural shingles. On a replacement we tear the old roof all the way off, hand-nail the new one, and look at attic ventilation while we're up there. We also work on flat and low-slope commercial roofs. Every job comes with a 1 year workmanship warranty and a 10 year manufacturer warranty.
