Commercial roofing in Texarkana, flat or pitched
Bohon Roofing does commercial roofing in Texarkana: repairs, coatings, and Mule-Hide TPO replacements on flat and low-slope roofs, and Owens Corning architectural shingles on offices, churches, and storefronts with pitched roofs. We're a family-owned roofer that has worked here since 1980, on both sides of the state line, and we plan the job to keep it out of your way.

What we work on
Bohon Roofing does residential and light-commercial roofing. For businesses, that usually means:
- Flat and low-slope roof repairs, including leaks at seams, drains, curbs, and rooftop equipment
- TPO single-ply membrane replacements on flat and low-slope roofs
- Elastomeric roof coatings for low-slope roofs that are still sound underneath
- Shingle repairs and replacements on offices, churches, and storefronts with pitched roofs
- Storm and hail inspections with photos, and meeting your adjuster if you file a claim
How we inspect a flat or low-slope roof
Every job starts with a free inspection. On a flat roof we fly the drone first and photograph the whole roof, which shows where water collects and where leaves and pine straw pile up. Then, where it's safe, we walk it.
If ceiling tiles are stained, we look at those too, because water on a flat roof often runs along the deck before it drips. Up close, we check:
- Seams that are lifting, open, or patched before
- Flashing at walls, parapets, curbs, and pipes
- Drains, scuppers, and gutters, and whether water reaches them
- Soft spots underfoot, which can mean wet insulation
- Blisters, cracks, or a membrane pulling at the edges
Flat roof repair or replacement?
Water doesn't run off a low-slope roof as fast as it runs off a steep one. It sits longer, so small openings matter more. Most flat roof leaks start at seams, around drains and scuppers, where the roof meets a wall, or around equipment someone set on the roof after it was built.
A repair makes sense when the problems are local: a few seams, one drain, one curb. A coating can be a good choice when the roof is dry underneath and mostly in good shape, but it won't fix wet insulation or widespread damage. Replacement is the honest answer when the insulation is wet across large areas or the membrane has reached the end of its life.
You get the photos and a written estimate with no obligation. A split seam caught early is a far cheaper fix than wet insulation, so keep drains clear, especially under pine trees, and have the roof checked after a hard storm.
TPO for a flat roof in Texas heat
TPO is a white single-ply membrane, the most common flat roof system going on commercial buildings today. Sheets are rolled out over insulation or a cover board and the seams are heat-welded together, so the finished roof is one continuous sheet with no exposed fasteners in the field. The TPO we install is Mule-Hide.
Texarkana summers are the main reason it suits a business here. A dark flat roof soaks up the August sun and passes that heat into the space below. White TPO reflects much of it, so the roof runs cooler and the air conditioning has less to fight.
A TPO roof is only as good as its seams and its details: the flashing around drains, pipes, HVAC curbs, and walls. That is where we spend our time on an install, and where we look first when an older flat roof leaks. An elastomeric coating is a different job, for a low-slope roof that is still dry and sound underneath.
Shingle roofs on offices, churches, and storefronts
Plenty of commercial buildings have a pitched roof, and some have both, with shingles out front and a flat section over the back. A pitched roof gets the same work we do on a house: tear-off to the decking, damaged decking replaced, and Owens Corning architectural shingles nailed by hand. On a church or an office we talk through the schedule first, around services, events, and your busiest days.
Working around a business that's open
A leak over a business means wet stock, stained ceiling tiles, and a day of work interrupted. We plan the work to keep disruption as low as we can: early starts, staging away from your entrance, and a clean site every evening. We talk through timing and access with you before we start.
When something can't wait, we move. One customer wrote in his Google review that he called Robbie around noon about shingle damage at his office, and a crew was there patching it within a couple of hours.
Storm and hail damage on a commercial roof
Hail can bruise or crack a flat roof's membrane, split seams, and dent rooftop units and vent caps without leaving anything you'd notice from the parking lot. Some of it only shows up as a leak weeks later.
After a storm we photograph and date the damage, from the drone and up close, along with any water damage inside. If you file a claim, we'll meet your adjuster on the roof so nothing gets missed. Your insurance company makes the coverage decision.
A commercial property policy is written differently from a homeowner's policy, so check your deductible and any separate wind and hail terms before the adjuster comes.
Who you'll deal with
Cameron Hunt, Texarkana born and raised with a business degree, takes the lead on the details of commercial jobs. Robbie Bohon, the second-generation owner, is still on the phone and on the roof, and when you call (903) 838-8430, the phone gets answered by someone at the family business.
Good questions
Straight answers
What size commercial buildings do you work on?
Our commercial work is light-commercial: offices, shops, churches, warehouses, and smaller commercial buildings. Tell us about your building and we'll tell you honestly whether it's a good fit for us.
How much does a commercial roof cost?
It depends on the roof's size, what's under the membrane, and how many drains, curbs, and units it has to be sealed around. The inspection and written estimate are free, so you have a real number to compare.
Should I repair, coat, or replace my flat roof?
It depends on what's under the membrane. Local problems at a few seams or one drain are a repair. A coating works on a roof that's dry and mostly sound. Wet insulation across large areas means replacement. We'll inspect it and show you photos before you decide.
Do you install TPO roofing?
Yes. Mule-Hide TPO single-ply membrane is our usual choice for flat and low-slope replacements, and we repair existing flat roofs and coat them with elastomeric coating. We use the same coating on flat patio roofs at homes.
Why is water standing on my flat roof?
Usually a clogged drain or a low spot where the insulation or deck has sagged. Water that sits for days wears on the seams and finds any opening, so have the drains cleared and the roof looked at.
What warranty comes with a new commercial roof?
The same one on every roof we put on: 1 year workmanship, 5 year inspectable, and 10 year manufacturer. You get the paperwork at the final walkthrough.
Can my business stay open while you work on the roof?
We plan around your business: early starts, staging away from your entrance, and a clean site every evening. We'll talk through timing and access with you before we start.
Do you do commercial roofing on the Arkansas side of Texarkana?
Yes. We take commercial jobs in both Texas and Arkansas. Tell us which side of State Line Avenue your building is on when you call.
