Roofing in Hooks, Texas
Hooks is out U.S. 82 west of Texarkana, about 14 miles from our office by road. We treat a roof in Hooks the same as one down the street from us.
About Hooks
Hooks grew up around Warren Hooks's plantation in the late 1830s and got rail service in 1876. It grew quickly when Red River Army Depot and Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant were built just south of town around the start of World War II. Today it's a small city in eastern Bowie County, and the depot is still its neighbor.
Permits in Hooks
Hooks handles its own permits, separate from Texarkana. The city's permit forms are posted at cityofhooks.org/departments/permits-and-applications, and questions about which forms you need, fees, or what to submit go to the City Secretary's office at City Hall, 603 E. Avenue A.
Plan around the peak of storm season
The National Weather Service office in Shreveport, which covers Bowie County, says about 30 percent of the area's tornado days fall between April 19 and May 20. Hail and damaging wind come with many of those same storms.
If your roof is getting older, have it inspected in early spring, before that stretch, rather than finding out in May. It's much easier to schedule a repair on a calm week than the morning after a storm.
What to expect when we come out
- A free inspection with drone photos of every slope
- A written estimate with no obligation, or a straight answer that you don't need work yet
- A tarp if a storm has left the roof open to rain
- Photos and an adjuster meeting if it's an insurance claim
- A hand-nailed repair or new roof, and a final walkthrough with you
Worth the drive
After a hailstorm, door hangers from crews you've never heard of can show up fast. Before you hire anyone, ask where their office is and how you'd reach them next year. We've been roofing out of Texarkana since 1980, carry surety bonds in Texas, and are BBB A+ accredited.
